Well friends, this is not a cliche, in order for you to understand our carnaval week, you had to be there, because we hardly had a camera on, and words can't describe it...
but here goes - the details of our own street carnaval week kit -
Participants - Andre, Shiri, Zigoto, Natasha and all the way from Israel - Nissim.

Main Participants
Guest starts - Fernanada, Rogerio, Andre da Geografia and Mariana (and million other old friends that Andre met on the way to the toilets...).
Main activity - drinking beer, looking for the bloco, drinking beer, following a bloco, drinking beer, dancing in the street, drinking beer, checking out funny customs, drinking beer, trying to get inside the Rio Scenarium club in Lapa, drinking beer etc.

Costumes - Ok, we were not so creative, we just had some cool hats... But some people did it well...

Success in catching our favorite blocos - Mais ou menos as they say here. Some start exactly on time, some start after a 4 hours delay. Go plan your day....
The song we heard most times - "lei, ie, ie, ie, ie, ie, ie, na Passarela".
Unexpected highlight - the Unidos da Tijuca's change of clothes act - #1 on the Escola de samba's winners parade.

Unidos da Tijuca "comissão de frente" changing clothes in the Sambodrome. Magical act in front of 150K people, live on TV and on samba rhythm
Unexpected surprise - Andre managed to go through all carnaval without watering any tree/ sidewalk. The good old days...
Physical damage - Andre - completely sick by Wednesday, Shiri - twisted ankle on the first day of dancing, pink sunglasses - broken in 2 hours and picked up by a homeless kids

Shiri´s carnival glass and its new owner
Impressive work force - Even if millions of people threw beer cans on the floor, the collectors did not let it stay 5 minutes on the floor

Well, well, indeed it is a hard work time... We need to rest after it...
The winner´s parade

After a week of street party, we went to see the winners parade, since some cliches are not made to be avoided..
Tip: Buy your ticket as soon as possible, otherwise you will end up like us, with bad seats, and you will have to stand on the seats to see something...

Andre´s parents watching the parade, and standing on the seats....

Vila Isabel, 4th place. Celebrating Noel Rosa, a great poet and musician from that area

Grande Rio, second place. Their theme was Carnival. So easy...

Grande Rio recreating some classic Carnival Parades, including a flying astronaut

Still Grande Rio, but this one we have no clue of what they wanted to say. But it is still beautiful...
É segredo, não conto a ninguém. Sou Tijuca vou além
The big winner of Rio´s carnival, Unidos da Tijuca had a strange theme: Secrecy...

The Alexandria Library

The hanging gardens of Babylon! This was an amazing truck...

Egyptians' pharaohs and their secrets... huhuh..

Another one that we don´t know what they wanted to say. Maybe is a secret.. we were not supposed to know

Michael Jackson on the Area 51 truck. Nice tribute - Him and all the E.T.s...

Just as a extra:

we got back on time to see the sunrise at Copacabana
